Hardwood Floor Resurfacing vs Refinishing: Resurfacing hardwood floor can cover minor scuffs and scratches and restore shine to a dull floor.

When considering hardwood floor resurfacing vs refinishing, the best thing to do is ask yourself: could covering this floor with a new stain and sealant conceal all its flaws? If the answer is no, your floors need to be resurfaced.

Let Us Restore the Beauty of Your Floors

At Dream Hardwood Floors, we specialize in restoring lightly scuffed up floors and surface scratches where there is a lot of traffic. If your floors aren’t severely worn down and doesn’t need refinishing, then it is likely that your floors are in need of a screen and recoat. Many people mistakenly refer to a screen and recoat process as, “Buffing hardwood floors” due to the machine used, a floor buffer. While we do use this machine for a screen and recoat. We do not use a standard buffing pad, we use a thin one instead to lightly scuff up the floors. This process is called, “Screening.” After this process is done, we apply clear finish. This is known as recoating and gives the floor a like new appearance. We recommend to have this done this every year or every two years depending on floor traffic to keep up on floor maintenance. If you allow your floors to lose it’s finish coating due to high foot traffic, you run the risk of needing to do a complete HARDWOOD FLOOR

REFINISH. Which can be a more costly and intensive process.

Because our owner personally oversees all projects, you can rest assured all possible steps will be taken to maximize the beauty of your floor while salvaging as many boards as possible.
